Reflexology Explained
So what is Reflexology? What is involved?
Reflexology can be traced as far back as 2330 BC to ancient Egypt, as well as being found in the ancient cultures of China and India.
Reflexology, as we know it today, is attributed to the work of Eunice Ingham, an American therapist who mapped reflex points on the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, glands and parts of the body.
It is a totally natural therapy following a unique method of applying pressure to the reflex points located on your feet and/or face using thumbs and fingers.

The good thing is, to enjoy the benefits of reflexology, you don’t need to have any existing conditions as it also provides a wonderful way to relax, unwind and de-stress. But you will definitely benefit from my treatment if you are struggling with any symptoms.
Whilst reflexology works very well alongside conventional medicine, it should never be used in place of seeking professional medical advice. If you are concerned about your health, please always consult your GP first.
So what’s involved?
For our first meeting, I begin with a consultation. It’s always good to establish your reasons for seeking out reflexology, what conditions you’re currently dealing with, and to understand your medical history. Don’t worry, all information is strictly confidential and any information taken is kept within a locked environment. I take notes to research how best to personally treat you and to keep track of any treatments already provided.
Next, I start the treatment with a relaxing breathing exercise and gentle massaging of the calves and feet to help you relax while improving blood circulation.
Gentle pressure is applied to the feet by using thumb techniques, and then a light pressure is used on reflex areas of the feet to stimulate, balance or sedate specific areas. This is where organs, glands and other body parts are connected to reflex points on the feet.
By the end of your first treatment you should feel calm and relaxed. Often, clients have been known to fall asleep, which I don’t mind at all. Other clients use the session as an opportunity to chat and discuss how they feel within this safe space. This too, can help with de-stressing. The treatment is one of relaxation and calmness to achieve that peaceful state of mind.
